Google Scholar

Google Scholar is a free tool that searches the full text of many electronic journals (except journals published by Elsevier). It also contains records for books from the OpenWorldCat service. Unitec full-text links are now available in Google Scholar for some records. Click on the "full-text@Unitec" link in any Google Scholar results to quickly and easily access material licensed or purchased by the Library.

How to access full-text articles online from Google Scholar

On-campus: When you do a search in Google Scholar you will see a link to "full-text @ Unitec" when we subscribe to the journal. Click on that link to access the full-text of the article.

Off-campus : To make Unitec Links display in Google Scholar off-campus, you must select Unitec in the Google Scholar Preferences as follows:

Google Scholar settings
  1. Go to Google Scholar
  2. Click on the settings button
  3. Click on the "Library Links" section and type Unitec in the box. Click the search icon.
  4. Check the box next to Unitec Institute of Technology.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Start searching Google Scholar - you will see a link to "full-text @ Unitec" to the right of the article title if we subscribe to that journal. Click on that link to access the full-text of the article. Note: If you have not already logged in you may need to log in with your Unitec username and password to access these resources.

NOTE: Occasionally the direct linking does not work - please email libadmin@unitec.ac.nz with details (ie title of article) if this happens to you.

Other options / print holdings

Even if there is no fulltext link, sometimes a link indicating other options such as print holdings will be displayed under the article in Google Scholar as "More options at Unitec ". This link leads to the ArticleLinker menu where an option to search the Unitec Library catalogue, is displayed.
