This service provides Unitec staff and eligible students with materials not held in the Unitec Library collections, by requesting materials, on their behalf, from other libraries and organisations within NZ or from overseas.

How to request an Interloan

1. Check to see if you are eligible to request an interloan.
2. Check the Library Catalogue to make sure the item is not held in the Unitec Library system.
3. Complete either the Article or Book request form online:

Interloan Policy

Who is eligible?

The interloan service is available to Unitec staff and postgraduate students. In some circumstances undergraduates may be able to interloan - ask at the Information Desk or contact us (see contact details above).

Quota

There is a maximum of 40 interloaned items per year without charge. If you interloan over 40 items in a year, the Library will charge you for any additional interloans that year. If you are a staff member you will be billed via internal requisition. Students will be required to pay on receipt of the item.

Interloan FAQs

• How long will it take? Allow approximately 10 days for interloans to reach our library. Some articles may arrive sooner.
• How do I know when it's arrived? Photocopies (which you can keep) will be mailed to you.
  You will be emailed when books are available.
• How long may I have an interloan? This varies as the lending library determines how long material may be borrowed.
  Some material like theses and overseas books must be used in the library.
• Can interloans be renewed? Sometimes. Please request a renewal before the item is due.
• What are the Copyright restrictions? Articles may be requested for research or private study only. No more than one article from a particular journal, or two if they are on the same subject, may be obtained at any one time.
